THE BARBUR WITHOUT BARBUR FIREWORKS RIDE Link
Portland Aerial Tram, 3303 SW Bond Ave Portland, OR 97239 Take Trimet (Meet at the lower Tram landing near Go By Bike)
9:00pm
This ride goes to view the Oaks Amusement Park fireworks from above at a new viewing spot just off Barbur Boulevard between the Iowa Street and Vermont Street bridges. But we get there without ever setting tire or foot on the road surface of Barbur Blvd. itself. This requires walking the bikes on about a quarter mile of woodland trail. Total roundtrip distance is about five miles. Road bikes are OK, as we will walk the unpaved trail section, but bikes pulling trailers are discouraged. Meet at the Go By Bike Shop at the lower landing of the Portland Aerial Tram for the start of the ride.

We're going to ride our bikes all over downtown all cool and such, making everyone who is wasting money at the bar wish they were cool like us, taking over the town and partying on the cheap. Come prepared for ANYTHING, mostly to just be super chill and have fun. The plan is no plan. We may exit downtown if it's too much of a mess. We'll end up not too far from where we started hopefully maybe.

Join us for a super fun and beautiful ride from the Missing Link in Woodstock out to Cascade Locks and back, passing by the Missing Link on Sandy on the way back. One of the virtues of an out and back route is that riders can decide to bail early without needing a car ride out. But you know you want to do the whole thing and enjoy beer and lunch at Thunder Island Brew Pub after riding the new gorgeous Columbia River bike path!  (helmets required, refreshments provided at start and near end)

Why is it that nobody ever makes a post-apocalyptic movie where everybody's riding bikes?  Instead we get these movies about people fighting for gas and cars.  Aw let's watch "Mad Max: Fury Road" anyway.  Oh, those freaky motorists!

From the Vera Katz statue, we'll take a short ride to the movie location along the Springwater Trail.  Dress warm, and bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
