Davis, CA: Bicycle stardom and recovery from post-Platinum Blues, presented by Ted Buehler
The town of Davis, California has a complex story of successes and failures in its 50 years of efforts to build a city for bicycles, from a bicycle paradise in the 1970s to a fading star in the 2000s, to a current resurgence in bicycling and advocacy. Ted will describe the history and analyze how advocacy, policy, politics and engineering interacted to shape successes and failures over time.

Purpose of meeting: Gather to write individual letters to various members of the City expressing our opinions regarding SE Clinton.

This will be in the spirit of Ted's postcard campaign. We will each hand write (or type on laptops) letters of 1-2 paragraphs or so. I'll be bringing lined paper, pens, envelopes and stamps.

The first half of the meeting will be us writing letters. During the second half we can discuss new ideas and follow-up actions.

PLANT TREES BY BIKE! (NE PORTLAND) Link
Piedmont/Woodlawn neighborhoods, TBA Take Trimet

Come to a neighborhood tree planting and join one of our bike planting crews!  Meet your neighbors, get some exercise, and beautify Portland & Vancouver neighborhoods all at the same time. Let us know what role works best for you: tree planter, tool carrier, tree chauffeur, or some combination of the three. Bicycling crews transport all of the trees, tools and people to various homes in the neighborhood to plant trees that will ultimately absorb CO2 and mitigate stormwater runoff—as well as a host of intangible benefits.
